Master teachers, Alberto Paz, a native born Argentinean, and his partner, Valorie Hart, will be at the Bergen Museum, in the Bergen Town Center, (formally the Bergen Mall) Paramus, August 2nd, 3rd, & 4th signing their latest book/ , "Gotta Tango" and conducting classes in Argentine tango. They'll take you on a journey through the rich culture, history, and music of Buenos Aires that inspired the romantic passion, alluring creativity, and natural elegance of the Argentine tango dance. Alberto Paz & Valorie Hart own Planet Tango, a school and tango salon located in New Orleans. They also produce the widely successful New Orleans TangoFest each year. Together, Paz and Hart conduct master Argentine tango classes as well as lectures and workshops in cities across America and the world. They publish El Firulete, an online international Argentine tango magazine with a quarterly publication in English. Alberto & Valorie have been featured dancers on the Buenos Aires TV show "Tango Around the World" With their website, www.planet-tango.com they provide dancers the opportunity to network on an international level. They teach and dance the traditional and modern authentic concepts of improvisation originally developed by the tango masters in the 1930s, revamped in the 1990s, and practiced by dancers of all ages in the social settings of the Buenos Aires dance halls to this date. |

Nelson Avila has been named
a member of the National Academy of Tango of Argentina and is recognized
as an authority on tango. He was in the original cast of the
world-renowned Broadway show, 'Tango Argentino' and recently completed
an international tour with the hit show Forever Tango. From Argentina,
Nelson has toured and performed all over the world. Nelson has danced
for Princess Diana, taught Robert Duval to dance the tango and, in fact,
was best man at his wedding. He also taught the choreographer who taught
Al Pacino to dance the tango in the movie 'A Scent of a Woman'. Nelson
also appeared in and worked with Raul Julia in the movie 'Tango Bar'.
The Argentine government selected Nelson to choreograph the Argentine
presentation at 'Expo Sevilla 1992', in Spain. In 1993, Nelson produced,
choreographed and performed his show, ' Buenos Aires...Tango' in many
cities, including the Lincoln Center, in New York. In the USA, he has
danced in more than 59 cities. |

Quiroga began her career as a ballet dancer, having performed in such
important works as Carmina Burana, Coppelia, Principe Igor, Aida, Don
Quixote, and others. In 1988 she entered the world of the milongas in
Buenos Aires, becoming the partner of choice of the seasoned milongueros,
particularly Puppy Castello. |
