Alberto Paz & Valerie Hart,  Special workshops with authors and renowned instructors visited 2 for Tango while on tour and "Gotta Tango" Book signing.

Master teachers, Alberto Paz, a native born Argentinean, and his partner, Valorie Hart, will be at the Bergen Museum, in the Bergen Town Center, (formally the Bergen Mall) Paramus, August 2nd, 3rd, & 4th signing their latest book/ , "Gotta Tango" and conducting classes in Argentine tango. They'll take you on a journey through the rich culture, history, and music of Buenos Aires that inspired the romantic passion, alluring creativity, and natural elegance of the Argentine tango dance.

Alberto Paz & Valorie Hart own Planet Tango, a school and tango salon located in New Orleans. They also produce the widely successful New Orleans TangoFest each year. Together, Paz and Hart conduct master Argentine tango classes as well as lectures and workshops in cities across America and the world. They publish El Firulete, an online international Argentine tango magazine with a quarterly publication in English.

Alberto & Valorie have been featured dancers on the Buenos Aires TV show "Tango Around the World" With their website, www.planet-tango.com they provide dancers the opportunity to network on an international level.

They teach and dance the traditional and modern authentic concepts of improvisation originally developed by the tango masters in the 1930s, revamped in the 1990s, and practiced by dancers of all ages in the social settings of the Buenos Aires dance halls to this date.
Mariela Franganillo

Workshop for Beginners and Advanced Couples was followed by Milonga.

Mariela Franganillo, born and raised in Argentina, is a dancer, choreographer and producer. She began her career dancing in Los Tangueros at Teatro Cervantes and at Casa Blanca in Buenos Aires. After moving to the U. S., she performed and taught at Stanford University. In New York City, where she currently resides, she has performed in productions at Lincoln Center, Town Hall and Carnegie Hall with companies such as NY Tango, Piazzolla & Beyond, Avantango, X-Tango & Eternal Tango.

She is proudest of her most recent producing venture, SWANGO, which mixes the two unique styles of Argentinean Tango & West Coast Swing. Mariela conceived and choreographed, together with Robert Royston, and was joined by Tony Award Winner, Rupert Holmes on her book. Mariela Franganillo a recent cast member with Broadway's Forever Tango.

The man who taught Robert Duvall Tango Nelson Avila And his partner, Madalyn Klien.

Nelson and Madalyn were enjoyed by all that had the opportunity to attend and learn during this special workshops held at Bergen Museum Gallery!!

Nelson Avila has been named a member of the National Academy of Tango of Argentina and is recognized as an authority on tango. He was in the original cast of the world-renowned Broadway show, 'Tango Argentino' and recently completed an international tour with the hit show Forever Tango. From Argentina, Nelson has toured and performed all over the world. Nelson has danced for Princess Diana, taught Robert Duval to dance the tango and, in fact, was best man at his wedding. He also taught the choreographer who taught Al Pacino to dance the tango in the movie 'A Scent of a Woman'. Nelson also appeared in and worked with Raul Julia in the movie 'Tango Bar'. The Argentine government selected Nelson to choreograph the Argentine presentation at 'Expo Sevilla 1992', in Spain. In 1993, Nelson produced, choreographed and performed his show, ' Buenos Aires...Tango' in many cities, including the Lincoln Center, in New York. In the USA, he has danced in more than 59 cities.

Guillermina Quiroga workshop.

Guillermina Quiroga began her career as a ballet dancer, having performed in such important works as Carmina Burana, Coppelia, Principe Igor, Aida, Don Quixote, and others. In 1988 she entered the world of the milongas in Buenos Aires, becoming the partner of choice of the seasoned milongueros, particularly Puppy Castello.

A year later she was awarded the coveted Hugo del Carril first-place trophy in the first edition of the prestigious Tango tournament sponsored by the municipality of Buenos Aires. Thus began her professional career as a tango dancer, a acreer that earned her soloist and prima ballerina billing with the Julio Iglesias world tour; the orchestras of John Mauceri, Luis Bacalov, Mariano Mores, Beba Pugliese, Orlando Trípodi, Juan José Mossalini, and Color Tango; and the critically acclaimed shows Tango x 2, Tango Argentino, and Luis Bravo's Forever Tango and Malambo.

She choreographer "Libertango" for the 1997 ice skating world champions Gritsuk-Platov, who won the gold medal in Nagano, Japan, a year later. She also choreagraphed "Fantasía de Tango" for Cassano Dancing in 1997, "El Choclo" for the Japanese Ballet Johnies, "Oblivion" for Tango Magic and various compositions for the Julio Iglesias world tour in 1997-99.

In another facet of her career, Guillermina has been featured on the silver screen in Naked Tango, Oratorio a Gardel, Funes Un gran amor, Después de la tormenta, Tango, Marie galante and Assassination Tango in Buenos Aires. She recently made Hollywood debut as an actress and choreographer in Valentina's Tango.  Combining her talent as a dancer, teacher, choreographer and actress, she has produced her own show, Tango, Historias Breves (formerly Los Tangos de la Cabala) where the mystic and mystery of the Tango, the enigma of human relations and the magic of the movies interweave and intertwine on stage.

Vivana Workshops

Viviana, born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina has tango in her blood. Her dancing is a beautiful expression of the very "portenio" character and sensibility. Viviana is known for making the authentic tango accessible to her students, distilling the essentials of Tango learned firsthand from dancers of the older generation.
